Dennis Murphy

Dennis Murphy is Vice President, Business Performance, at Amgen, a global biotechnology company. He is responsible for building a long term capability for continuous improvement and leading change across the company. Murphy joined Amgen in 2005 and has held various positions of increasing responsibility in Quality, Engineering and Manufacturing. He has been the Vice President, Site Operations of the Amgen Inc. site in Fremont, California where he was responsible for the general management of a GMP-licensed facility, capable of manufacturing both bulk drug substance and drug product. He has also been the Vice President of Engineering responsible for facility operations and capital construction and management worldwide. Prior to joining Amgen, Murphy spent 24 years in the United States Navy commanding nuclear submarines and working in government relations positions. He was selected as a White House Fellow serving as the Research Advisor to the Secretary of Transportation. Murphy is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, holds a Master’s Degree in Engineering Management from Catholic University, is a graduate from the Executive Program at UCLA Anderson Business School and is a nuclear engineer certified by the Department of Energy.
