Building Capacity for Generations of Service

Ride On was founded with the realization that individuals with disabilities have the same dreams and aspirations as any able-bodied individual, they just need a more elaborate support system to help realize those dreams. Ride On provides that support. From the outset, we intended to build an organization that can help many individuals and that go on for many, many years. That is why we asked for and received a 60-year agreement with the Conejo Recreation and Park District for the lease of our 13-acre Newbury Park ranch; that is why Ride On purchased our 3-acre ranch in Chatsworth; and that is why we have an independent Board of Directors and a succession plan for the leadership of Ride On.

Building a nonprofit that can live for generations is a bit like the difference between pitching a tent for a few nights and building a house that can withstand storms, even earthquakes, over a period of decades. If you want to stay in one place for 100 years you will need to spend a lot of time and effort building your foundation. Your help is vital to build that foundation. It is an investment in the quality of life in our community.

In return, our commitment to you, and your children, is that you can come by either ranch years from now and see lives being changed every day, every ride.

In 2012 we will continue to carefully expand our service to the disabled, to about 6,000 rides per year. If you come to our Topanga ranch you will see construction begin on a 2,500 square foot Education and Therapy Building. We have raised $600,000 from the City of Los Angeles and the Ahmanson Foundation. We still need to raise $150,000 to complete this project. Your financial support will help us build an organization that will be here for decades to come.
