Hippotherapy and Research
Ride On changes lives. We know this from the 28 peer-reviewed scientific studies on equine movement and from the constant feedback we receive from patients and their families. Therapy Services at Ride On also participates in leading-edge research. Lead by Central Michigan University and funded in part by the Horses and Humans Research Foundation, Ride On is one of several test sites in the nation studying the “Effects of Hippotherapy on Balance and Gait in Children with Spastic Cerebral Palsy.” The study is currently being conducted.

Hippotherapy is a treatment strategy provided by licensed physical, occupational or speech therapists. Using the movement and sensory input of the horse, the therapist helps the patient achieve improvement in functional areas such as postural control, strength, speech, swallowing, motor control, balance, walking and activities or daily living.
